Jeff , that would explain my 1902 (approx) date .
Isn't Arabic script read from right to left ? Then the dates are opposite to that ?

You're correct. In Arabic, it's right to left, but for letters left to right, 1321. The new picture really helps. ![]() (I stand corrected).

To the best of my knowledge, Arabic is read right to left but numbers go left to right so this will be 1321 ( 1903)

Oppps! While Arabic letters are written from right-to-left, numbers in Arabic are written from left-to-right. I stand corrected, as OA had pointed out.
