Thank you yuanzhumin, for giving such enlightened information on the photographs. The book has many amazing pictures from around the world but was compiled at the beginning of the 20th century and is written in a very imperial manner, the text on some parts of the world borders on ridicule and any facts stated really have to be thought about.
