I'd think because of the engravings, but then again it could have been a poor mans balde that was later engraved to make it sell better. all ofcourse are speculations from viewing the pictures.

Very nice shashka, the handle and the scabard have some really nice workmanship. As far as the writings, the date is 1276 , right now is 1432, which comes to 156 lunar years, which is 150 solar years...
