Another keris

Hi all, here is another of my last purchases. Seems a composite piece or not? Maybe i'm wrong (that is very possible

). Anyway it's circa 50 cm long and the patina it's nice. Unfortunatly the scabbard was restored in a bad way. Thanks for the help

I like the selut, blade, and burled grains of the wood. Must have been etched a lot to have the missing section near the ganga.

It's a very cute and original Javanese blade, Flavio. But in a "non Javanese" dress... Am I wrong?

Hi Flavio,
Your keris is very beautiful. The ricikans still complete although the greneng has worn-down. Also pitties that the wadidhang was perforated

But overall is really nice and shown its age, especially the Ada-Ada and Kembang Kacang.

And I agree with Ganjawulung that your keris is Jawanese blade. The dapur is Parungsari (Luk 13) and estimated made on Mataram Sultan Agung period (about 17th century).

Ganjawulung and Mans, I know nothing about keris, but I was thinking that the blade was javanese in a non javanese dress (could you tell if bugis or malay? Thanks

) and now that you tell me I have the certainty

Anyway I like it and as Jose said the grains of the wood is very nice.

I agree with the general consensus that the blade is Javanese.
A good old one too, although it had seen better days.

Fittings, seems to be Bugis.
Hilt is in the 'kerdas' form... seems to be made from kemuning wood (Murraya paniculata).
Hilt ring (pendongkok) is in an uncommon form, nice original piece, probably made from brass with a single piece construction.
Sheath's cross piece, is in the 'tebeng' (tey-beng) form... probably made from the kemuning wood.
Sheath's shaft seems to be from angsana wood (Pterocarpus indicus).
There seems to be some patchwork at the joints.
Rattan binding seems newer, probably not original to the sheath.

The piece looks familiar... was it from one of our forum-mates?

Wood grains are pretty. Kemuning wood have a kind of chatoyance that is beautiful. I like the hilt and hilt ring.

I suspect the sampir has been reworked before. The form looks too flat, and the ridge on the short-end of the sampir seems to run off the sheath abruptly.
