				 | North african sword

Hello everyone, my first post on the site I got this sword that was collected in Tunisia about 1970. Length 65,9 cm, blade 80 cm. Weight 610 g, blade only 505 g. Wood hilt seems to be frequent in Tunisia and Libya. After a first cleaning it shows the classic pattern of European productions on the blade, very good quality engraving I think. Easy disassembly of the hilt it was observed 4 stamps on tang. View various pictures and a graphic reading test. Do you have any information about those marks ? Solingen ? 17th c. – 18th c. ? Best regards |

A SWORD SOLD RECENTLY ON FAGANARMS, INC WITH A SIMILAR HANDLE AND A CURVED BLADE. YOU CAN TAKE A LOOK ONLINE AND SEE THE INFORMATION AND PICTURES OF THAT EXAMPLE FOR COMPARISON.

Thank you for these references and links. A photo montage on the same scale of other examples sold in 2015 on a website in France. This type of handle has been mounted on the European decidedly very diverse blades !! Top: single-edged, length 114.5 cm, center the same broken blade, 79 cm, bottom: 80 cm blade identical to my own (mistake in my first post : total lenght is 95,7 cm). |
