Are you sure the pins are horn and not akar bahar ? Ever since I got this smallish Gading hilt I've been keeping my eyes peeled for one the size of yours . ![]() Nice assembly of examples . |

Hello Rick,
of course not really sure about the material, but I think that akar bahar is not flexible enough and will break maybe. Other possibility is that it is some sort of hard wood. BTW, also nice hilt you have there. sajen |

Some very nice hilts!
I never bought a Bugis piece yet but looking at these hilts it might be a good plan to start looking into those as well.... Erik |
