Ah yes, the leather around the throat. That could be the problem.
I've also found that a little Renaissance Wax, and probably other silicone-based polishes too, applied to the blade helps things slide smoother as well protecting from rust. |

Have you identified the domed coins that are used on this hilt ?
As I recall it is missing one or two on the other side , no ? These could probably be easily replaced . Silver is a snap to work with .
