Hi Flavio,

Congrats, I like this one very much. Nice old patin on the hilt and especially I like the carvings at the bottomside of the handguard. Also the blade shows great lamination.
When you consider wrap the hilt again with ratan, please don't use the "natural" light coloured ratan.

Maurice, I will stain rattan for sure, I don't like the natural color, I will try to give a "lived" look at the rattan... or at least I will try

Hi Flavio, here are the widths of the rattan strips .
I hope you don't mind doing the conversions from inches to mm .

The three bands on the handle are 1/32 of an inch wide strips; they are plaited double strands to make the bands .
The outer wrap is of rattan a bit wider than 1/16 of an inch .

As I say, if you'd like 360 degree shots of the overweave etc. I'll be glad to provide .

That is an old hilt with a beautiful patina from long use .
Good score !!

Have you thought about staining the rattan with either strong coffee or tea ?
