Is it possible to have a 6.5 inch keris?

Apolaki, if I had been able to write more, with any confidence of certainty, I would have done so. The plain fact of the matter is that these little keris are surrounded by so much confusion, legend, and misinformation, that it is difficult to be certain about much that relates to them.

Hi Maisey,

Thanks for responding, i'm very glad you have a page up regarding these types of keris. I wonder if you have some idea about age. in the site you mentioned some time around the colonial era, is there a more earlier frame of reference as well? Hope your doing well!

Regrettably I cannot accept your address of me as "Maisey". This option is only available at the present time to members of my club, or to those with whom I attended an educational institution.

Regarding age of examples of this type of keris, it is virtually impossible to establish this with any accuracy. One was found under one of the stupas of Candi Borobudur, which could date it to more than 1000 years ago, and they are still made today.

We cannot really use material as an indicator because in some cases old material from an earlier blade may have been used.

Too little is known about style to be at all certain of point of origin in respect of locality or of time.
