Groove in the central rib ? I assume you are talking about the blade stiffener, where there is no groove, just a triangular section rib running down the centre of the blade on both sides. Blade thickness being 1mm at the flats and 4mm across both front and back stiffener ribs.

The handle is horn of some kind, a I got the burning hair smell with the hot wire technique.

The Scabbard is wooden, covered with material and interestingly remains of a tartan type material between the suspension loops, dark green with pale blue lines covering the leather.

The decoration is on the front of the scabbard only, just plain on the rear.

Not sure if it is silver, but I may test for this soon, as soon as I can find which chemical it is to use, nitric acid?
