D'you think the grooves on the horns of the hilt once had silver wire in them ? I'm intrigued by the shape of the hilt; have you ever seen this variation before ? Btw, still looking for a decent container for the tulwar .. ![]() |

After looking at the pictures carefully, I agree that the hilt had silver bands on it. Yes the wrap on the scabbard looks newer and that it probably had pierced or "pin pricked" silver design. I can do both if you are interested.
Rick as far as the hilt design is concerned, I would say that it is a similar idea to the same shape found on the top of Kalinga and other Igorot shields (though not related) in that the middle is the head and the other 2 "wings" are arms raised up. |
