I am disappointed for you .

Personally I would contact the seller, I don't remember him mentioning the damage/repair, if he is ethical and honest he should at least offer you a discount. The blade looks good.....is it possible that part of the handle is ivory ? If you look at the top surface of the 'white rings' is there a sort of criss-cross pattern ?

hopefully it can be restored. Unfortunately this is a problem when buying things on Ebay some times we win and sometimes we get screwed

It has happened to me more than once so you just chalk it up to experience.

no, he has not mentioned the repair, but remember that the dagger it's arrived firm and the pictures you see are of a moment when I have already started to disconnect the handle. I think that after the restoration that I will do the result will be fine

maybe the price I have paid it's a bit too high, but what is done is done....

here is a drawn I made to understand better the construction technique (yes it's ivory)

Hello Willem, thank you. I don't think that on the sudanese daggers that have an ivory pommel there was a coin, I see always a silver cup...
