The patterning on the Kilij looks 'strange' and seems to have 'raised' contours, including some 'longitudinal lines '
Parts of the blade appear 'laminated' Mixed billets on one blade ,,,,,,,, |

I'm thinking the raised edges are due to the etching.
Also it is possible that the blades were cleaned to the point of taking everything off to make the blades shiney - a Victorian and American collectors tendency. Later the dealer may have had what was left of the blades re-etched. |
