Kilij and Yataghan: overcleaned?

The patterning on the Kilij looks 'strange' and seems to have 'raised' contours, including some 'longitudinal lines '
Parts of the blade appear 'laminated'

Mixed billets on one blade

I'm thinking the raised edges are due to the etching.

Also it is possible that the blades were cleaned to the point of taking everything off to make the blades shiney - a Victorian and American collectors tendency. Later the dealer may have had what was left of the blades re-etched.
