If you don't make any mistakes, you are not buying enough pieces!

Ariel,
The STORY alone is worth the price you paid! I may, however, copy it and display it beside one of my blades. This story will really freak out my maintenance supervisor. He already has qualms about working on my home with all the weird stuff in here. He mumbles about ju-ju and gris-gris, and he has a point! ![]() |

With it being made out of D2 tool steel, as a functional sword I'm imagining it will be leaning a little more on the heavy side. Might hold a pretty good edge if you were to bang with it, although I hear the verdict on high edge retention with D2 tool steel is still out.
Curious... I've also heard you can't really create a hamon line with D2 Steel but the auction photos seem to show what appears to be a hamon line. So what is up with that? If so, the temper seems to taper off leading to the point rather than showing a full hardening of the point. However, who's to say for sure unless we ask the guy who forged it. When you get it in your hands, I would be interested to know how wields. If it actually feels like a nice sword to hold. That is, as long as you don't lose your hands from the curse. |
