Hi Ian, I hope that some members will post pictures of kris with this restoration, because find them with the "search" option is quite difficult. Anyway the restoration on mine is to assure the kakatua pommel more than the handle that is quite firm.

Here is a link on the old UBB Forum to another kris with similar rattan wrappings to the hilt -- this example is one that I have had for several years.
