Hi,

I hope you've managed to identify the item. In case you haven't, I'd just like to say that, IMHO, it is definitely not a kujang or kudi as generally recognised by the Sunda. Its form doesn't have the right 'flow'; it's too 'rigid' (even for a Badek Patani or a Badik). The dapur is more akin to a 'Suduk Maru', which is not restricted to pedangs. Of note is that there doesn't appear to be a definite 'inclination'/'curving' of the back-edge w.r.t. the tang, as is characterised by all of the above implements. Hope it helps in some way.
BTW,.. is this the one from Brunssum?

I do not believe that this blade can be categorised as a kudi or kujang; it resembles no kudi, nor kujang, that I have ever seen.

The handle is a form that seems to be associated with North Jawa, and it is difficult to assess its age.

It is most definitely not any type of tombak blade.

I have seen similar blades that have been produced by the Suminep craftsmen and that combine features associated with a number of forms of traditional blade, or alternatively, with traditional blades and blades from outside Indonesian tradition.

My gut feeling is that close examination would perhaps indicate that this is of recent Madura origin.
