Thanks again for your observations. I am unaware of any significance that Moro culture might attach to the pamor that you describe. That these patterns appear on Moro kris seems unintentional and, in my limited knowledge of Moro views on such pamor, of little consequence to them other than perhaps an element of decoration. At least, that is my working hypothesis—but I am always willing to be proven wrong.

Moro etching of kris blades is usually done with fruit-based organic acids, such as vinegar or kalamansi juice (a particularly tart form of lime juice). Organic acids are a "less aggressive" acid etchant than metallic acids such as warangang or ferric chloride, or common industrial acids such as hydrochloric, nitric, sulfuric, or phosphoric acids.
