I think it looks like a Croatian battle axe. They are something in between bardiche and axe and most likely extremely formidable weapons. You can google examples online. There are also halberd versions that I saw in Trakoscan and Varazdin castles. Interestingly your item seems to have a makerĀ’s mark and remains of gilt/brass inlays. The latter means itĀ’s not munitions grade but probably used by an officer. Your item has a rectangular socket so more likely an axe?

Yes it does have makers mark in square form of crossed lines?
And remains of another metal brass? Inlays. Allso it has reinforced point for chain mail piercing. It is more lika ax to me. I will look Crotaian battle axes, it is found in Croatia. Thanx 😃👍🏻 |
