I sent multiple (8) Filipino edged weapons to Macao for the History of Steel exhibit at their museum of art. This stuff comes in several diameters and is just about bombproof. The inner tube is smooth and the outer tube is a separate piece which is bonded to the inner core. The material is much tougher than PVC pipe.
Shipped to the far side of the world and back with no damage at all. I had 4 swords in each container It does not bend, crush or break. ![]() Last edited by Rick; 14th July 2025 at 02:55 AM. |

Rick,
That looks wonderful material for mailing items. What's it called? I can't find it at my local hardware sources. I talked with my local P.O. about how to send items without risk of damage. They recommended PVC piping. What you show looks much better. Regards, Ian. |

Hi Ian,
I missed your response. That kind of pipe is often used as buried septic pipe; you would probably have to find some at a plumbing supply wholesaler or possibly a contractor's supply business. That is where I found mine. There is a Mast Maker (sailing) in our local industrial park; that's where I first spotted this tubing. They use it to ship spars to their customers. We had to install a new leach field at the house. You can see it in place in the trench pictured below. It comes in various sizes; the tubing I used to ship was 10 inches inner diameter IIRC. |

Thanks Rick. I am having some plumbing done now on my septic tank and will ask the guy where I can get it.
