Default stick

Hey Jim. I missed this post somehow.
Very curious. Could it have been from a sword stick?
Hollywood is/was certainly keen on the skull topped stick.
I can't make out from the picture if there is a hilt/grip behind the skull, which would negate my suggestion.

Thank you for coming in Keith! Kinda figured at outset there would be ZERO response here , a bit unusual for mist here.
This is too big for a stick, but know exactly what you mean on Hollyweirs.

There is a grip and I think pommel, it is most certainly from a Napoleonic French cuirassier sword by the blade.
