Hello everyone. I am trying to systematize my knowledge about Javanese keris. Please tell me, are there certain types of dapura keris blades that are characteristic, not for a time period, but for a location? That is, are there dapuras characteristic of West, Central and East Java?

I do not know of any researchers who have addressed this question. In my experience, any dhapur can come from any place.

Thanks, Alan. Are there any blade features specific to a particular Java region?

Not that I can think of.

There are some features that might be seen more often in one classification (tangguh) of a keris than in others, and in some cases a tangguh can be related to a time period, but I think it could very difficult, if not impossible to bring all this together into a system. |
