I visited and antique store yesterday and notice several different styles of knives and one sword that you folks here on this board seem to be interested in. I went back to the store today and took some pictures of the knives so you folks can educate me.
I am going to make a post for each knife. If I post them all in one post then things will get confusing to my education. Here is the first knife. What is it? ![]() ![]() What should I expect to pay for a knife like this? I am not looking for a specific value, but a range of values. I am looking for a price range like $50-$60 or $500-$600 or $5000-$6000. I checked the forum rules and applying value only applies to on going auctions. I am looking for "Price Guide" values |

Well kinda not really ; the idea is that you could collect a lot of misinformation too ; remember advice you get on the 'intraweb' is worth exactly what you pay for it . That's why pricing anything is discouraged ; there is nothing wrong with using the Private Message function though . The best approach might be to present the pieces and ask for PM's as to average value . Value is a very subjective thing anyway . ![]() Rick |

Sorry, D. No appraisals here, even ranges. If anyone wants to help, they can PM you the info.

Katana and Mare Rosu thank you for helping me learn about these knives. I actually kind of had this one right in my mind. The shop owner had the knives labeled. I noticed that some items in the field that I do know were glaring l wrong so I had no idea if his label was correct.
Thank you for your kind response. I am learning! |

Double D
The jambiya seems to be of Omani origin and it does not seem to be one of quality I would keep my eye out for a nicer one on ebay. Lew |

Thanks Lew, I am not really interested in acquiring, I was more interested in "what am I looking at".
I visited this board and saw discussion on all sorts of knives with all sorts of names and didn't understand what I was reading. |
