Vandoo , you call those large !?

I have seen some that came up with the fishing nets from a place called the "donut hole" near George's Bank off Cape Cod ; they were 4" long and as wide at the base ; they also drag up all kinds of fossil bones from this spot some 50 miles offshore of Cape Cod .

RICK THAT SOUNDS LIKE A GREAT SPOT TO GO DIVING PROVIDING ITS NOT TOO DEEP OR MURKEY AND THERE ARE NO DRAG BOATS AROUND WITH THEIR NETS THAT KILL EVERYTHING DIVERS INCLUDED. FROM WHAT I CAN SEE IN THE ABOVE PICTURES THEY APPEAR TO BE MAKO AND PERHAPS SOME GREAT WHITE TEETH AND ARE GOOD SIZED FOR THE TYPE. BUT THEY DON'T COMPARE IN SIZE WITH THE CHARACHODON MEGALODON WHICH CAN HAVE TEETH 7 IN. PLUS LONG AND WIDER THAN YOUR HAND. A FULL SET OF THEIR TEETH WITH JAW IS BIG ENOUGH TO DRIVE A JEEP THRU. THEY FIND A LOT OF THEM IN MARYLAND, NORTH CAROLINA AND FLORIDA AS WELL AS THE WEST COAST OF PERU. THEY ARE PROBABLY ALL ALONG THE EAST COAST UP INTO CANADA BUT I DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT FOSSIL HUNTING UP THERE. BUT THE ONES IN THE PICTURE LOOK GOOD AND ARE PROBABLY CHEAP COMPARED TO WHAT YOU WOULD PAY IN THE USA.

Found this on the anthropological collections web site, acquired in '46.

Country: FRENCH CAMEROON?
Material: SAWFISH,CORD
Dimensions: L:69.2 W:14.5 [in CM]
Donor: MAMMALOGY DEPARTMENT

It brings up two points, it was not originally collected as a weapon, as the donor was the MAMMALOGY DEPARTMENT.

Secondly, Sawfish must be Mammals
