Strictly speaking, this is not a Kindjal. Kindjal is a russified version of the name for a Caucasian ( and Transcaucasian) straight double-edged dagger, locally called Khandjali in Georgian, a name derived from Persian Khanjar. Turkish name is Kama ( Qama). This one is a typical Qajar era based on the carvings on its bone scabbard. It is dated 1187, ie 1773-4 Gregorian, well before the Qajar era (1789-1925). Is it Ottoman or Persian is difficult to be sure: this is a touristy item, made all over, including Syria. Hence the dating.
Likely ( IMHO) late 19-first half of 20 cen.). I fully agree with all of your points. |

الله شام محمد روفان ١١٨٧ 'God. Syria(Damascus), Muhammad Rufan(?). 1187' It does not look old |
