just a tourist greek-ottoman dagger ?
Hello everybody,
I just bought these two daggers, more for the ottoman model with the velvet scabbard, the mounts seems made of bad white metal, and seems a touristic ( greek ) piece but I liked the arabic engravings on the blade and guess the qama like hilt was made of horn, not expensive so I bought it. |

I received it and clean it a little,
mounts are very heavy, seems made on coarse cast metal velvet seems recent on the scabbard. In the same time the blade is better than I expected, the ottoman fish-dragon chape is well made and seems silvered brass... Maybe an old greek decoration piece ? Or north african with ottoman influence ? |

under some rust, this mark on the blade. Maybe someone knows where it comes from ? |

So a mix
between a qama-beibut dagger, an ottoman greek dagger and north african engravings... Oscillating between a fancy touristic recent stuff and a signed blade... Glad to receive your comments !  Kind regards !! |

Ottoman Turkish (not Greek) 1900 1920 Constantinopolis for the koummiya 1920-1950

The dagger on the right is in fact from Morocco and is called a Koummya.

Thank you Kubur and Stu, Really thank you Kubur for fix the origin of this dagger ! Do you think the ''mark'' is a turkish one ? The moroccan Koummya is sadly in really bad conditions  Kind regards |

Like this makers mark ,
circular, said to be from balkans... are makers marks with drop shape only from Istanbul or Turkey ? + I saw them almost only on yatagans blade, didn't find ( on the web ) on kilij blade per example |
