Hi Rick,
I must apologise for the ridiculous length of time it has taken me to take these photos and post them. Much of my stuff has been in storage for some time and this rifle was among them. I'm glad the images were useful.

To add to the "sling rings or leather loops" discussion:

Both styles were used. Attached are photos of rifles all from western Georgia showing both the leather loop and ring.

The Russians continued this Caucasian style sling setup with leather loops on all their "Cossack" model rifles, M1832, Berdan, Mosin, etc

It took me some time (ten years )
I came to this post and with amazement I see how they modified the trigger and the trigger guard of the Berdan rifle in the Caucasian style...

To add more information to an old post, I am currently in Dagestan and came across this rifle with it’s original sling still attached at the national museum.
