To add to the "sling rings or leather loops" discussion:
Both styles were used. Attached are photos of rifles all from western Georgia showing both the leather loop and ring. |

The Russians continued this Caucasian style sling setup with leather loops on all their "Cossack" model rifles, M1832, Berdan, Mosin, etc

To add more information to an old post, I am currently in Dagestan and came across this rifle with it’s original sling still attached at the national museum.
