I think corrado was referring to the 'irregular' rim folding but this, only for itself, would not be an issue ... i guess
![]() The weight you give is a regular one for these things. If this were a genuine 'pear stalk' cabasset, would date from around 1600's, and could come from Spain, Italy or Britain. A genuine example was discussed HERE. |

I think that given the size and weight that its a real one. Plain, simple and not at all fancy, just the sort that comes out of the barrel and onto the soldier.

The workmanship, and the appearance of the metal surface on the underside, look right to me as well. Outside appears to have been rather strenuously cleaned sometime in the past, but that applies to a lot of old armor. (at least it hasn't been "enhanced" with decoration applied by someone in the trade, long after the fact)
