Djelenga gives it as :-
BERANG/GOLOK "Berang" is a regional variation of "Parang". It is not a "PEDANG", a pedang is a sword, a parang is a general purpose tool, think "machete". |

Like Alan write it's a Berang (parang) or Golok from Lombok, a very nice piece, love the handle carving. The description from Djelenga in his book "Keris di Lombok" on page 338 say that blades come also without pamor.
