Hertbert Ward 1863 - 1919 explorer, writer, sculptor and collector.
The photos were taken in 1910/1911 in his "studio" in Paris.
His collection was given to the Smithsonian Institution by his wife in 1921 (2714 items).A big exposition/installation was made from 1922 until 1961.

This woman suffered for so many years.... But still, she waited until her hubby died before the garage sale...

Just showed these pics to my wife and, unexpectedly, she loved the display.
We have been married for more than 20 years and I never knew that she was an angel.
I am seriously considering buying a stuffed hyppopotamus to decorate our living room.
