Does it look like a hornbill to you?

I also agree, the hilt looks very much like the head of a hornbill.

Are you able to advise of the source for this valuable information?

The reason I ask is that some years ago I had an alamang pretty much the same as this one of yours, which was identified as Toraja, by a person who was Torajan.

I agree as well. I have already long my alamang but never get this suggestion.
