thank you for comment. My first guess was Madura as well but get doubts and Sumatra could be a good guess but like you I have to say that it lacks substantial argument. For me is this blade a real mystery and I am curious what others have to say.

I'd love to hear some other opinions on this blade if they are out there. While Detlef and i both seem to have similar opinions on this one i don't think either of us are too sure of that opinion.

Looks like an old trade blade. Malay dress - could be either side of the Malacca Straits. Cute hilt - old ones are not that common anyway. Probably not worth the bother of restoring unless the sheath was clearly made for the blade. If not, pop the hilt off and put it on a stand. The other bits can go in the parts box.

exactly what I've thought byself about this keris when I bought it. I doubt that the sheath was made for this blade but you never know. I will see it when I have it in my hands. Thank you very much for comment.

nobody speak here about Bugis, sarung and hulu with pendokok clearly Peninsula, the question was from where the blade could come.
