Thanks for posting this very nice badik and joining the ranks of active forum members - welcome!

I apologize for us being so slow to respond to your first thread; I hope others will chime in as well.

Well, its origin is obviously an old Dutch collection!

I'm sure the blade is an above average quality Bugis blade - very probably from Sulawesi.

I'm less sure about the fittings though. The rattan wrap is unusual - looks genuine and old though; the silver work on the scabbard resembles most closely a style seen with some keris from Sumatra.

What can you tell us about it? What is the perspective of a native Makassarese, I assume?
