the ultimate arms and armour monument is of course Trajan's column in rome. more swords than you can shake a stick at & lots of armour, shields, fortifictions, spears, falx, etc. etc... 1. wm. wallace, scotland, looks a bit art deco. makes him look like a dwarf in the LOTR. doesn't look like at all like mel gibson. yes, he was as short, but not so wide and didn't have a beard. 2. alfred, winchester, traditional victorian statue. why a greek hoplite shield? 3. achilles, hyde park. needs a bit more clothing.
