			Yes the scabbard looks quite Indonesian but the blade is in a Turkish Star pattern ; the bolster is sort of Sumatranesque (Acehnese) , but what the heck is a chunk of turquoise doing in the butt of the handle ?  
		
		
		
		
		
		
		
	Obviously it is a later addition (the turquoise) along with the filler it is set in . I'm thinking that the butt may have had a silver cap at one point . Intriguing piece Smashy .  |

			I was having a look at this piece also.  The blade is quite nice.  I agree that the turquoise seems like a later addition and quite out of place for this item.  The blade is lovely.  I have seen this type of twist core in some Malaysian/Indonesian blades.

	My guess as to origin is definately Sumatra/Aceh,the knife reminds me of a dagger sized sikim.  |
