I notice in the photos that they are carrying newer made guns with percussion locks vs flintlocks, which would be much more convenient firing from horse back. Wish I knew who built those guns!!
Meantime, here is a photo of an old French postcard I have. Look at the length of the barrel on that Snaphaunce gun!!
