I did wonder,... which of course is why I posted it here to get some input from those more knowledgable.
I did have a typical Syrian dagger some time ago, with the inlaid grip and the short blade, but sold it on. With the above weapon it was the hilt profile, repouse sheath and the blade inlays which made me wonder if this was a variation of the Syrian type. I am perfectly happy for it to be Turkish! It will go nicely with my Yataghan.
