Hunting bowie knife

This knife belongs to a friend and I´m trying to change it by a combat modern knife.He is thinking because the knife was a present for his grandfather.
At first time the knife seems anothers very similars made by Joseph Rodgerds and Sons, but he told me that no marks in blade , only BAR and MADRID.It measures near 14 in. Someone knows something about this knife? Is possible was a copy from a spanish knifemaker?Thanks in advance
