![]() This type of dagger is still made in the Sudan. Here's a recent product. Not quite as nice as yours, but functional. It was collected near Darfur (Sudan) in 2004 by a person working there. It has a simple wooden handle. The wooden scabbard is covered in red leather to which some imitation snake skin is added. The sheath also contains a small pincet (for removing thorns) and a big needle. The blade seems as it's ground down from a piece of metal, but has very sharp edges.
