A Late Gothic Cranequin, ca. 1500
Overall length of the ratched bar 43 cm.
In poor, overcleaned and pitted condition throughout: the original lower cord loop for attaching to the crossbow inaptly replaced by an iron clamp, several rivets obviously replaced, as well as the original wooden crank arm handle. The bar struck with a maker's mark, now indistinct as mostly polished off. Best, Michael |
