Today I received the tenegre and I am very satisfied with my new toy!
![]() Handle is like supposed from horn, ferrule and guard from iron. The sheath missing two brass (?) bands at the leather throat otherwise it is in very good condition. The blade is very well worked and finished. The feel in the hand is very good and the blade is well balanced. As for the age I think that it is pre WWII since the leather throat is attached in the old way. Here are some first pictures, more will follow. Regards, Detlef |

Here some more pictures, sorry for quality, it is a very bad light here in Germany at the moment.
Have carefully cleaned the blade and the brass rings in front, need to be polished in the back. Any statements for the age? |

![]() ![]() Even better than I thought, horn hilt, what luck. Iron guard, a sturdy material for a war-sword then? I agree with you that WW2 would be a 'latest' date, I'd guess at a date of between the wars. Lovely piece, well done on the buff-up, looks great. Best Gene |

My congratulation on your acquiring this beautiful tenegre Detlef !!! The heavy steel guard and horn hilt are most impressive and help set this piece apart from the ones with the thin brass guards and wooden hilts. All in all a very well made warriors sword that I think would date to the first quarter of the 20th century. Again, my congratulation to you on being able to add this fine item to your collection.
