Hi Gene,
The 1845~1854 dates can be a wee bit fluid as although the patterns were introduced in those dates the practicalities meant that the pattern cutoffs were not absolute. If that is a brass scabbard I have always thought that it indicated it belonged to an officer of field rank i.e. Major and above. Nice sword. My Regards, Norman. |
