And here is another keris I picked up on a local auction earlier this year.

It's very strange that the nice tip is hidden under the low grade fittings? Could it be from Negeri Sembilan? Michael |

Very nice panjang keris, like the painted hilt and have never seen one before. I think the silver bands are a later addition and not from the first "issue" of the sarung.

I was a bit unconcentrated and thought I entered the swap, so my eyes already started to glow with greed

Congratulaions Michael ! Nice one. The painted hilt of this type is new to me too. How is the connection between scabbard and wrangka ? Maybe the low grade fittings where made to cover up some damage in that area Best regards, Willem |

			Another very very nice keris.

The shape/decoration of the hilt remembers to me, a little , some Bali/Llombok hilts. It would be nice to see the botton of the hilt inside selut (but i suppose is not possible because it seems fixed with old glue) Very nice

			Thanks,

Detlef, I think so too. But I wonder why because IMHO it was nicer without them. Willem, the wrangka is loose but not otherwise damaged so it would be easier to just reglue it if it was like that before it was taken to Europe. Marco, I am not home at the moment but I will have a look later this week to see if that's possible. Actually it came in the same lot as a Balinese "wedung" aka perupak so maybe there is a Bali connection regarding the hilt? Michael Last edited by VVV; 20th June 2011 at 10:41 AM.
