Wavy dagger - info requested

hello all ... just picked up this dagger. now am not really sure which country it came from. any comments or similarly-designed blades out there? thanks in advance!

Looks like the Philippine to me Miguel. Luzon?

It's fairly recent BTW. Hard to pinpoint, but latter part of the 20thC most likely.

Indeed on the one hand, it strikes me as Luzon, too. On the other hand, the hilt shape (i.e., cylindrical) and ornamentation (the 'dots') are not typically Filipino. That's why I had some doubts. But now that you mentioned it, perhaps it really is a Luzon dagger. Thanks.

Shape of the handle throws off... but yeah, most likely filipino. Is it carabao horn.

I agree Luzon, perhaps even Ilokano, but very recent, certainly post WWII (note the thin aluminum spacers).

I have some pictures of a dagger of very similar design here.

I acquired it from a person who said it of middle-eastern origin, though I'm not sure if that is a fact or a guess.

I think this one could be Indian, I have seen similar stamped "India", or "made in India".

I don't know if it's just me, but all these links come up as invalid for me.
As i stated before, i have a blade almost exactly like this and i am still wiling to bet it is from the Philippines. The sheath is horn like the handle on the front side and wood on the other side with the same aluminum stud designs on the front face. A very low rent dagger that i spent less than the price of a dinner on, but it is big, awesome sharp and dangerous.

It's a nice and cheap little dagger, not the best looking scabbard for it though but I really like the blade.

Hahaha that's interesting David

I think it's a nice dagger for what I paid. I find the scabbard a bit ugly but the blade is very sharp and it's got a bit of weight to it.
If we can find out more about these daggers it would be great because I'd like to know as much as I can

I had one of these a couple of years ago that had "LUZON" carved into the scabbard. I also had a pair of these with the same hilts and horn and wood scabbards that did not have wavy blades but straight double edged blades. Philippines for my money.

Frankly Fheng, while i might pick up this blade in a knife fight (mine is pretty big and sharp) i don't think they are really worth putting too much research into (unless, of course, i choose to take Rick up on that bet

). Not any real historical value here. They are cheaply made, mostly, i would think, for the tourist trade.

I VOTE PHILIPPINE MOST LIKELY A SHOP IN LUZON. THE FIRST I SAW WERE IN THE MID 1960'S AND I HAVE SEEN ENOUGH OF THEM OVER THE YEARS TO THINK THEY MADE QUITE A FEW INITIALLY AND THEN STOPPED PERHAPS SALES WERE NOT GOOD AT THE TIME AND PLACE.?
