I'm a little puzzled Yannis , a Salawar Yataghan is a cheap knife ?

Even the old examples ?

Well, it depends who sell it and what we mean cheap

After the fall of Taliban regime in Afghanistan a lot of them found their way to western market and the prices have fallen rapidly. Of course it depends of the quality, the condition etc.

I have seen some of them to get very low prices in Ebay. I dont want to write numbers here, but as I said before lower that a custom, hand made scabbard for a sword.

HI folks.

I work with all sorts of stuff from all sorts of countries. Have done scabbards for Moro, but even did gilt brass fittings (and hand stitching the velvet cover with yellow metal thread) for a tulwar for some one. Once settled into our new house, will start work again on some dha scabbards. I can work on these, but it may be some time in or after Feb. before I can work on any new orders. With that caveat in mind, I will be willing to work on new stuff.

Note: I always try to do as much ethnographic research as possible on a piece for designs and authenticity. If possible, I even like to email sketches approval before any money or work is exchanged or started. This also includes rough estimate price quotes. My email is:
