Yes, that was my feeling too. especially being offered in the X-mas season. But seriously, I still have some questions. - Is there any market for such an item within Indonesia, maybe as a djimat ? - Or is such an item purely made for outsiders/western collectors ? - Also I wonder if due to the nice book on keris sajen we might encounter more fantasy keris like objects in the future ?

Common gentlemen, you got to be serious. Look at the dapur. It's the dukun (shaman or male witch) himself... lol

but generally speaking as jimat/charm. From my observation the Semar shape being the most popular. Outsiders? Seriously? Do you mean like mysterious creatures from Mars? Well all I can say is that you don't need Indonesian passport to buy such item. Hope this help.

Hello tunggulametung,
Thanks for your reply. ET buy keris NO, by Outsiders I meant people from outside the indonesian culture. But from your reply I understand that this object may also be made a a djimat. The shape of an old man with hat and beard does not look very Indonesian to me, so therefore I had the feeling that this was made for westerners. Best wishes for 2011 ! Willem |
