			Well done, 'Nando,     Thank you! What wonderful weapons the Portuguese had ... The crossbow is clearly influenced by the mid-15th c. Italo-Spanish style, with a very delicate long tiller and and small indented steel bow. Also the quite developed form of the sword hilt is remarkable. I attach scans of a ca. 1450 Italian painting depicting similar bows and crossbows. Best, Michl |
