graeme,

This is the best I can do. You can see that the hole is not an insect hole. There is on ring in the wood from the head of the stud which is often seen by not always.

Anybody got a spare old stud like that seen on graeme's club?

Just remembered I have dozens of studs on a broken staff, they do not stick out as far as the ones on graeme's. No harm done just placed in the hole.
