Nice spear display, Conogre.
Rick, I'm not saying those spear butts are foreign/mismatched; just the sort of regional relation one sees. Tim, I do know that people have used crooked spears, and I've certainly seen ones where a slight degree of crookedness seems to have been treated as something to just deal with, I still think the long steady bend on the treadstarter is probably acquired, rather than original. And, it is a phenomenon that I understand primarily as a sign of poverty or poor wood availability. Let's approach it from this angle; what possible advantage can it give? I often find that I can find a meaning/benefit to technologies/features that initially seem counterfunctional.......what reasons are possible, other than neccessity? |
