Anyone familiar with 18th-19thC Brass cartidge boxes?

They are certainly Ottoman and are not rare to find.

Hi Michael.
In my opinion the rare thing is to find them as a matched pair.
Of course you can find many of them as a single piece but as a pair there aren't so many.

Hi Antlantia.
Usually these cartridge boxes were at the waist of the warrior so there aren't so many pictures to show them.
I provide you some paintings from Peter Von Hess 1792-1871 that he made during the Greek War of Independence.You can see some warriors wear pairs of these cartridge boxes.
