I definately think your dagger is Hindu. The blade doesn't look wootz to me, but thats not to diminish the beauty of the carved steel. Its a lovely piece indeed. Date I would say mid 19th, but it could be a bit either way. Certainly the style of gold koftgari is identical on many weapons in books attributed to 'mid 19thC' Regards Gene ![]() |

Yes you have a nice dagger, congratulations ![]() Like Lew write, the blade may be wootz, but the scabbard looks as if it is original, so I would leave it as it is. Gene, Nice khanda, do you know from where it is? I am sure you could find out if you tried. Jens |
